Project items include modified subbase, granular shoulders, base widening, pavement scarification, intermediate and surface course hot mix asphalt, asphalt binder, shoulder subdrain, painted pavement markings and symbols, traffic control, flaggers, pilot cars and other miscellaneous items including to complete the project. This project is part of the approved FY 2024-28 CIP with a total project budget of $300,000. Dallas County has taken bids for this project on April 27, 2023 and results of those bids will be reported at the May 15, 2023 Waukee City Council meeting. Resolution PREPARED BY:Beth Richardson REVIEWED BY:Rudy Koester RK PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION – NAME OF PUBLICATION: DATE OF PUBLICATION: J1G2 RESOLUTION 2023- RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF THE UTE AVENUE RESURFACING, AND RATIFYING, CONFIRMING AND APPROVING DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF BIDS AND FIXING A DATE FOR HEARING THEREON AND TAKING OF BIDS THEREFOR WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable and necessary to construct certain public improvements described in general as the Ute Avenue Resurfacing; and WHEREAS, Dallas County will serve as the lead agency for the Project and will enter into the construction contract for the Project; and WHEREAS, Dallas County and the City of Waukee have agreed to divide the actual construction costs of the Project, with the City paying its share of the estimated cost upon request for reimbursement made by the County Engineer at Project completion intervals deemed mutually appropriate; and WHEREAS, Dallas County has caused to be prepared plans, specifications and form of contract, together with estimate of cost, which are now on file in the office of the Waukee City Clerk for public inspection, for the construction of the public improvements; and WHEREAS, the plans, specifications and form of contract are deemed suitable for the making of the public improvements; and WHEREAS, final grades have been established by ordinance, consistent with the plans for all street improvements included in the proposed construction; and WHEREAS, on April 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., following advertisement for bids by the County, the County Engineer received, opened and tabulated bids for construction of the Project as provided in the public notice; and WHEREAS, before the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost may be adopted, and a contract for the construction of the public improvements is entered into, it is necessary for the City to hold a public hearing and to consider ratification of the bid letting. Section 3.That the actions of the County Auditor of Dallas County in advertising for bids are hereby ratified, confirmed, and approved. Section 4.That the Dallas County Engineer is hereby ratified and adopted as the designated representative to perform the duty of receiving, opening and tabulating bids for construction of the Project as provided in the public notice and his actions taken in doing so on April 27, 2023, are hereby ratified, confirmed and approved. The results of the bids shall be considered at the meeting of this Council on May 15, 2023 at 5:30 P.M. Section 5.That the City Clerk be and is hereby directed to publish notice of hearing once in a legal newspaper, printed wholly in the English language, published at least once weekly and having general circulation in this City. Publication shall be not less than four clear days nor more than twenty days prior to the date hereinafter fixed as the date for a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of costs for the project, the hearing to be at 5:30 P.M. on May 15, 2023. At said hearing, any interested person may appear and file objections thereto or to the cost of the improvements.
