The engineer’s estimate for the project was $1,203,155.80, The apparent low bid was submitted by Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation of Des Moines, IA for $1,084,997.97. This bid is approximately 10% below the engineer’s estimate. Bid Summary PREPARED BY: Beth Richardson REVIEWED BY: Rudy Koester RK H2C RESOLUTION 2023- RESOLUTION CONSENTING TO DALLAS COUNTY’S MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE UTE AVENUE RESURFACING BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA: Section 1.That the City of Waukee consents to the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the Ute Avenue Resurfacing, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on May 15, 2023, being accepted by Dallas County, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows: Contractor:Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corp.of Des Moines, IA Amount of bid:$1,084,997.97 Portion of project:All construction work Section 2.That the Clerk is hereby directed to notify Dallas County that the City of Waukee consents to Dallas County’s execution of the contract with the contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council.
