SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Some residents have raised concerns that the $10.00
pet license late renewal fee is too high because the license fee itself for a
spayed or neutered animal is $15.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommend eliminating the late fee
associated with pet license renewals beginning immediately upon
approval of the resolution. Any resident impacted by the late fee in
calendar year 2023 will have the late fee waived upon their request.
There will be no refunds issued for late fees paid prior to approval of the
proposed fee schedule revision.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2023-
ADOPTING THE CITY OF WAUKEE 2023 FEE SCHEDULE, REVISION NO. 1
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, on April 17, 2023, the Waukee City Council approved the City of Waukee 2023
Fee Schedule (Resolution #2023-153); AND,
WHEREAS, upon review of Pet Licensing and Animal Control fees within the approved fee
schedule, City staff recommend that the pet license renewal late fee be eliminated.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
15th day of May, 2023, that the City of Waukee 2023 Fee Schedule, Revision No. 1, eliminating
the pet license renewal late fee, is hereby approved and shall be in effect immediately.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that residents who are currently impacted by the 2023 pet
license renewal cycle late fee will have the late fee waived upon their request.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any pet license renewal late fee paid prior to the 15th of
May, 2023, shall not be subject to refund.
