AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a Motion to set a Public Hearing Date of
July 24, 2023, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to amend
Chapter 169, Zoning Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by rezoning
certain property from A-1 (Agricultural District) to R-2 (One & Two
Family Residential District) [Waukee Commons]
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Staff has received a request for rezoning of
approximately 158.5-acres of property from A-1 to R-2. The property is
generally located north of 310th Street and east of T Avenue.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the City Council
setting the public hearing date for July 24, 2023, to discuss this matter
further. This public hearing was originally set for July 10, 2023, but due
to not having a quorum for the Planning and Zoning Commission
Meeting, the date needs to be moved. Council action to set the public
hearing date does not indicate support for the project. Rather, it
represents the Council’s willingness to allow the public hearing process
to continue.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
