AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the establishment of
a Waukee Aquatic Facility Steering Committee
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: One of the City Council’s strategic priorities is the
exploration of a design concept and cost analysis for a potential aquatic
facility. As part of the process, City staff recommend the creation of an
Aquatic Facility Steering Committee to spearhead the project until the
anticipated November 2024 bond referendum.

RESOLUTION 2023-
APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN AQUATIC CENTER ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee City Council has determined a need for the establishment of an
advisory committee dedicated to the study of the design and financing of a municipal aquatic
center/swimming pool; AND,
WHEREAS, the Aquatic Center Advisory Committee (the “Committee”) shall be established in
order to fulfill this need; AND,
WHEREAS, the Committee shall remain in existence until such time that an election is held on
the financing of an aquatic center; or when the Mayor, the members of the Committee and/or a
simple majority of the Council determine that the Committee is no longer needed; AND,
WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint the Committee members, the number of which shall not
exceed eight (8); AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee Parks and Recreation Director shall attend meetings of the
Committee and shall act in the capacity of support staff for the committee; AND,
WHEREAS, the Committee shall meet as necessary and shall comply with all provisions of
Code of Iowa Chapter 21, Official Meetings Open to Public (Open Meetings) and Chapter 22,
Examination of Public Records (Open Records);
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa on
this the 16th day of October, 2023, that it hereby approves the establishment of a committee to be
known as the Aquatic Center Advisory Committee.
