AGENDA ITEM:Public Hearing on plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of
cost [Waukee Public Safety Building Project]
FORMAT:Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: With the significant growth and expansion of the
City over the last 20 years, it has become necessary for the City to construct a new Public Safety
Building which will house the Waukee Police Department as well as be home to a second
location for the Waukee Fire Department. The existing Public Safety Building will retain a fire
presence. The City Council has established this project as a priority and has hired a consultant
team including OPN Architects, Sidekick Development and Ryan Companies to design, manage
and see through the construction and outfitting of the new facility. The new Public Safety
Building will be located at the intersection of T Avenue and Douglas Parkway. Work on the road
and utility infrastructure to support this project is currently underway.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:The estimated total
budget for the entire project is $48,700,000.
