MEETING DATE: December 18, 2023
AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a Motion to set a Public Hearing Date of
January 15, 2024, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to amend
Chapter 169, Zoning Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by rezoning
certain property from A-1 (Agricultural District) to R-2 (One & Two
Family Residential District), R-2 / PD-1 (One & Two Family Residential
District with a Planned Development Overlay), R-3 (Multi-Family
Residential District), and C-1 (Community and Highway Service
Commercial District); and from R-2 (One & Two Family Residential
District) to R-2/PD-1 (One & Two Family Residential District with a
Planned Development Overlay) [Castleton Pointe]
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Staff has received a request for rezoning of
approximately 72.04-acres of property from A-1 to R-2, R-2/PD-1, R-3,
and C-1; and from R-2 to R-2/PD-1. The property is generally located
south of University Avenue and east of T Avenue.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the City Council
setting the public hearing date for January 15, 2024, to discuss this
matter further. Council action to set the public hearing date does not
indicate support for the project. Rather, it represents the Council’s
willingness to allow the public hearing process to continue.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
