SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON:This project includes all labor, materials and
equipment necessary for removal and replacement of approximately 1,306 SY of 8” PCC
pavement, 174 SY of 6” PCC driveway, and 17 SY of 6” PCC sidewalk, surface restoration, and
miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup.
Serenity Drive Pavement Replacement is located on Serenity Drive between Melody Circle and
Harrington Way.
This project is the result of a water main break that occurred in February 2023 due to faulty
workmanship by the utility contractor at the time of installation. The water main was and still is
under its four-year maintenance bond period. The City is actively working with the contractor
and their insurance company to reimburse the City for the pavement repair expenses. Staff
anticipate utilizing the Road Use Tax Fund Pavement Repair budget line item until
reimbursement is received.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, PROPOSED FORM OF CONTRACT
AND ESTIMATE OF COST FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SERENITY DRIVE REPLACEMENT FOR THE
CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA.
The City Council of Waukee, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on the proposed Plans,
Specifications, Form of Contract and Estimate of Cost for the construction of the above
referenced public improvements at 5:30 P.M. on February 5, 2024. At said hearing, any
interested person may appear and file objections thereto or to the cost of the improvements.
The work to be done is as follows:

Construct Serenity Drive Replacement including all labor, materials and equipment
necessary for removal and replacement of approximately 1306 SY of 8” PCC pavement, 174
SY of 6” PCC driveway, and 17 SY of 6” PCC sidewalk, surface restoration, and miscellaneous
associated work, including cleanup.
The Serenity Drive Replacement is located on Serenity Drive between Melody Circle and
Harrington Way.
In accordance with Iowa Code Sections 21.4(1)(b) and 21.8, this meeting of the Waukee City
Council will be conducted with two different options for public participation: 1) Members of the
public wishing to attend in person may do so in the Council Chambers at Waukee City Hall. 2)
