AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving Agreement for
Professional Consulting Services with Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. [Transite Water
Main Replacement – Phase 4]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The work to be performed by the Consultant under this
agreement shall encompass and include detailed work, services, materials, equipment and supplies
necessary to complete analysis and design for the project. The project consists of replacement of
transite pipe water main in Original Waukee including all connections, valves, service connections,
fire hydrants and miscellaneous associated work. The approximate location of the project is on Gray
Avenue and Christopher Avenue between 1st Street and 3rd Street and on 1st Street and 2nd Street
between Corene Avenue and Gray Avenue.
This project is in the draft FY 2025 CIP with a total budget of $1M. V&K’s design and construction
services are for an amount not to exceed $89K. This is 8.9% of the project budget and within the
acceptable range for such services. The project has a schedule to complete design in April 2024, bid
the project in May 2024 and have a construction period from July 2024 to May 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: City agrees to pay the Consultant
a Not-to-Exceed sum of $89,000.00, including any authorized reimbursable expenses, pursuant to the
Schedule of Fees set forth in Attachment 3 of the agreement.
Basic Services of the Consultant
A.Design $ 59,500.00
B.Construction Services & Staking $ 29,500.00
Total $ 89,000.00

APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES WITH
VEENSTRA & KIMM, INC. [TRANSITE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PHASE 4
PROJECT]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the City desires to retain the consultant services of Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. for the
Transite Water Main Replacement Phase 4 Project; AND,
WHEREAS, the scope of services includes detailed work, services, materials, equipment and
supplies necessary to complete analysis and design for the Transite Water Main Replacement Phase 4
Project; AND,
WHEREAS, the project consists replacement of transite water main including all connections,
valves, service connections, fire hydrants and miscellaneous associated work. The approximate
location of the project is on Gray Avenue and Christopher Avenue between 1st Street and 3rd
Street and on 1st Street and 2nd Street between Corene Avenue and Gray Avenue; AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the
Agreement for Professional Consulting Services between Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. and the City of
Waukee, Iowa [Transite Water Main Extension Phase 4 Project] is hereby approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 5th day of February,
2024.
