Grant Parkway Pavement Patching Project]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: This project includes all labor, materials and
equipment necessary for removal and replacement of 719 square yards of pavement, traffic
control and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup.
Bids were received on March 26, 2024, with seven general contractors submitting bids. The
engineer’s estimate for the project was $180,000.00, The apparent low bid was submitted by The
Concrete Contracting Co. Inc., of Grimes, Iowa for $105,397.00. This bid is approximately 41%
below the engineer’s estimate.
Staff anticipate utilizing the Road Use Tax Fund’s Annual Road Repair – Patching budget line
item for this project. The annual budget for FY 2024-25 is $300,000.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommends approval of the resolution awarding
contract.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE 2024 SE LA GRANT PARKWAY
PAVEMENT PATCHING
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the 2024 SE LA Grant Parkway Pavement Patching, described in the plans
and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on April 1, 2024, be and is hereby accepted,
the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows:
Contractor:The Concrete Contracting Co., Inc.,of Grimes, IA
Amount of bid:$105,397.00
Portion of project:All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
