Construction includes approximately 24,000 SY of Crack & Seat of existing PCC pavement, 8,000 Tons of 6” HMA overlay, 3,000 Tons of granular shoulder, 800 SY of PCC removal, 600 LF of curb and gutter, 21,000 LF of subdrain, 250 STA of pavement markings, signing, surface restoration, and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances. Bids were received on April 10, 2024, with three general contractors submitting bids. The engineer’s estimate for the project was $1,796,091.10. The apparent low bid was submitted by Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation of Des Moines, IA for $1,254,457.62. This bid is approximately 30% below the engineer’s estimate. The allocation of the post-bid construction costs between Waukee and Dallas County are estimated to be $597,372.72 and $657,084.90 respectively. Final costs will be determined at the conclusion of the project based on the previously approved agreement between the two agencies. This project is included in the draft FY 2025-29 CIP with a total project budget of $900,000. The project has a final completion date of August 9, 2024.
