AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of an ordinance to amend Chapter 92, Water Rates,
by amending Section 92.04, Irrigation Water Rates, as specified [introduction;
first reading]
FORMAT:Ordinance
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: A water rate increase to the irrigation rate only was
included in the FY2025 budget as proposed for consideration for approval by the City Council. These
rates will go into effect July 1, 2024.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The irrigation charge is
recommended to be set at $4 higher ($13.38) than the rate for water usage in excess of 1,000 gallons.

RECOMMENDATION: Introduce the ordinance and approve the first reading in title only.

ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 92, WATER RATES, CITY OF WAUKEE,
IOWA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 92.04, IRRIGATION WATER
RATES, AS SPECIFIED BELOW.
WHEREAS, due to the increased costs of providing water the City of Waukee has
determined to change the rates for water usage, including irrigation water; AND,
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1. Chapter 92, Waukee Municipal Code, Section 92.04, Irrigation Water Rates,
is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof are as follows:
92.04 Irrigation Water Rates. Beginning July 1, 2024, irrigation water usage
will be charged at a rate of $4.00 higher per 1,000 gallons per month than the
regular domestic meter rated listed in 92.02(2) above.
Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect on July 1, 2024, after its
final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
