SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON:This project is for modification to existing left turn
signal indications and right turn signal indications (when the movement crosses a trail) to
Flashing Yellow Arrow indications at 18 traffic signalized intersections and installation of
rectangular rapid flashing beacon crossing assemblies at four school crossings.
The Traffic Signal Enhancements, Waukee School and Trail Crossing Improvements Project is
located at various locations in Waukee, more specifically at intersections along W and E
Hickman Road from 10th Street to SE Alice’s Road, along SE Alice’s Road from E Hickman
Road to SE Kettlestone Boulevard, along SE University Avenue from SE LA Grant Parkway to
SE Alice’s Road, along 6th Street from Northview Drive to Waukee Avenue and along Ashworth
Road near Serentiy Drive.
This project is part of the approved FY 2025-29 CIPs with a total project budget of $720,000.
The project has a completion date of December 31, 2024.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, PROPOSED FORM OF CONTRACT AND
ESTIMATE OF COST FOR CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL ENHANCEMENT, WAUKEE SCHOOL AND
TRAIL CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA.
The City Council of Waukee, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on the proposed Plans, Specifications,
Form of Contract and Estimate of Costs for the construction of the above referenced public
improvements at 5:30 P.M. on May 6, 2024. At said hearing, any interested person may appear and
file objections thereto or to the cost of the improvements. The work to be done is as follows:
Modification to existing right turn signal indications when the movement crosses a trail at 18 traffic
signalized intersections and installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacon crossing assemblies at
four school crossings.

In accordance with Iowa Code Sections 21.4(1)(b) and 21.8, this meeting of the Waukee City Council
will be conducted with two different options for public participation: 1) Members of the public
wishing to attend in person may do so in the Council Chambers at Waukee City Hall. 2) Members of
