and property restoration [925 Laurel Street]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: In 2019, the City acquired the property located at 925
Laurel Street in advance of potential future improvements and
realignment of Ashworth Dr. The property consists of a single-family
house and a detached garage. The City solicited bids for the removal of
the house and garage but no bids were received.
On April 15, 2024, the Waukee City Council approved an agreement
with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity for the salvage of
contents and fixtures within the buildings.
The City solicited quotes for the demolition of the house and garage,
followed by property restoration. One quote was received from J.
Peddicord of Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $38,500.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $38,500.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommend approval of awarding the quote
to J. Peddicord of Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $38,500.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2024-
APPROVING QUOTE FOR DEMOLITION AND PROPERTY RESTORATION
[925 LAUREL STREET]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee owns property located at 925 Laurel Street, which was
purchased in advance of potential future improvements and realignment of Ashworth Drive;
AND,
WHEREAS, City staff requested quotes for the demolition of a single family home and
detached garage on the site, as well as the restoration of the property; AND,
WHEREAS, City staff recommends awarding quote to J. Peddicord of Bondurant, IA, in the
amount of $38,500.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa
that the quote as noted above be accepted and approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 6th day of May, 2024.
