HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-05-06 I01J_02 Public Safety Building_Change Order 2AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: May 6, 2024 AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 2 (Combined) for the Waukee Public Safety Building Project, increasing the contract in the amount of $15,620.04 FORMAT:Consent Agenda SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Change Order No. 2 relates to certain changes affecting mechanical and plumbing systems as well as electrical service pathway changes to avoid conflicts with geothermal system and landscaping. The MidAmerican service had been budgeted at $50,000 and was outside of the scope of the original contract so while this looks like an add to the cost, it is actually a cost savings from the overall budget. Additionally, this change order includes a deduct of $11,860 in landscaping costs due to south property line and transformer pad location changes. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The net result of this Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $15,620.04. NEVER give out your user ID or password. Jill – see below in red. 1. S302: Joist Bearing Elevation Modification a. Is the cost here a detailing change? What’s driving this? Elevation changed from 15’-10 ¾” to 16-0 ¼”. – we had a total of 15 hours of detailing to revise the entire ASI 03. There is no material or labor change for the joist bearing modification. 2. S303: Kicker arrangement added along one wall. a. I see one kicker. Agreed? Added material, labor, detailing? – there is one callout for detail 1/S303. The angle is 6’-0” on center and has (2) 3/8” plates per angle. The wall is around 24’ long. I had (5) angle kickers and (10) added plates. 3. S405: Lintel bearing detail added a. You always owned the lintel, the details were added to support design/detailing on your end. What am I missing? – we had the lintels themselves, technically the only information provided for the lintels was the lintel schedule that called for a bottom plate. Nothing about a bearing plate or anchor bolts that the new detail provided. Ultimately all I charged for in this CO was the detailing time, looking back I probably could have charged for the bearing plates and anchor bolts as well. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.
