AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 1 to Iowa Signal, Inc. for
the NW Douglas Parkway Traffic Signals Project increasing the contract
amount by $1,850.00.
FORMAT:Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The change order includes work associated with the
revised pavement markings at the intersection of Douglas Pkwy & N. Warrior Ln that created a
dedicated right turn lane and separate through lane, part of NW Douglas Pkwy – Grade, Partial
Pave, and JUT project. This work specifically includes the installation of a new signal head, a
new right turn only sign, and associated brackets and wiring at the intersection for EB traffic.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The net result of this
Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $1,850.00.

Dear Mr. Koester:
Enclosed is Change Order #1 for the NW Douglas Parkway Traffic Signals project. This change
order includes work associated with the revised pavement markings at the intersection of Douglas
Pkwy & N Warrior Ln that created a dedicated right turn lane and separate through lane, part of
NW Douglas Pkwy - Grade, Partial Pave, and JUT project. This work specifically includes the
installation of a new signal head, a new right turn only sign, and associated brackets and wiring at
the intersection for EB traffic.
We recommend approval of Change Order #1 in the amount of $1,850.00 to the contractor, Iowa
Signal, Inc. of Grimes, IA. Please place this change order on the next available City Council
Meeting Agenda for approval.

Address
Pavement markings were revised as a function of the roadway project that created separate through and right turn lanes for EB traffic. As
such, the additional head was necessary over the new through lane and the right turn sign added clarity for the new right turn lane.
