ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 106, COLLECTION OF SOLID WASTE,
CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA MUNICIPAL CODE, BY AMENDING SECTION 106.10,
COLLECTION CHARGES, AS SPECIFIED BELOW:
WHEREAS, the annual review of solid waste rates by the City of Waukee has
determined the following changes to the rates for solid waste and recycling collection services
are necessary.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1. Chapter 106, Waukee Municipal Code, Section 106.10, Collection Charges,
are hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof is as follows:
§106.10 Collection Charges. The fees or charges to pay for expenses incurred in
the collection, processing and marketing of solid waste, and yard waste to be
collected between April 1 and November 30 each year, and recyclables shall be:
A.For each single family residence and a dwelling of two (2) or more, the
fees will be $17.50 per month beginning July 1, 2024.
B.Any multi-family dwelling containing four (4) or more units having a
commercial type of container serviced by a commercial hauler must
follow Waukee Municipal Code provisions relating thereto, covering
the mandating of Recycling at Apartments. A fee of $2.80 per month,
per unit, will be billed by and paid to the City beginning July 1, 2024.
C.Changes in provisions for fees set out in this ordinance may be made
by resolution of the City Council.
Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect on July 1, 2024 after its
final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
