AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain portions of public streets on Thursday, November 28,
2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for the Waukee Turkey Trot 5K event
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is to accommodate
a 5K run in and around Triumph Park.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2024-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2024, FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 9:30 A.M. FOR
THE WAUKEE TURKEY TROT 5K EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, All Community Events of Illinois will host a 5K event in and around Triumph Park
on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and requests the temporary closing of certain public streets
beginning 8:00 a.m. and ending 9:30 a.m. on the date of the event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
3rd day of June, 2024, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of the eastbound lanes of
NW Douglas Parkway from NW 10th Street east to NW 2nd Street, and the southbound lanes of
NW 2nd Street from NW Douglas Parkway south to NW Sunrise Drive between the hours of 8:00
a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
