Ambulance from Foster Coach Sales of Sterling, IL, in the amount of
$364,034.00 [Waukee Fire Department]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The fire department is requesting to purchasing 2027 F-
550 ambulance. This purchase is being conducted through the Sourcewell
group purchasing consortium. The expected life of the chassis is
approximately ten years. Due to the growth in call volume this will be an
addition to the fleet (3rd ambulance).
There is a 28–30-month lead time from the date of order. Due to extended lead
time the seller has reserved the right to increase the chassis based on market
conditions.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The purchase price for the
ambulance is $364,034.00. During the budgeting process we will request
equipment to outfit the ambulance including a power cot and cardiac monitor.
The cost for the equipment is approximately $190,000. The total project is
approximately $550,000.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommends approval.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 2027 AMBULANCE FROM
FOSTER COACH SALES OF STERLING, IL IN THE AMOUNT OF $364,034.00

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS the Waukee Fire Department finds it necessary to add an ambulance to the
department fleet; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Fire Department recommends the purchase of a 2027 F-550 Horton
ambulance from Foster Coach through the Sourcewell group purchasing consortium, of which
the Waukee Fire Department is a member; AND,
WHEREAS the purchase is included in the Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Improvement Program but
due to a 28- to 30-month lead time for construction, the Waukee Fire Department requests that
the purchase be approved by the Waukee City Council at this time.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
17th day of June, 2024, that it hereby authorizes the purchase of a 2027 ambulance from Foster
Coach Sales of Sterling, IL in the amount of $364,034.00.
