closing of certain portions of public streets on Saturday, October 5, 2024,
and Sunday, October 6, 2024, for the Waukee Area Historical Society

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Waukee Area Historical Society requests
temporary street closings to accommodate the annual Wauktoberfest
event in the Downtown Triangle District.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2024-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2024, AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2024, FOR
THE WAUKEE AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY WAUKTOBERFEST EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Area Historical Society request the temporary closing of certain portions of
public streets for their Wauktoberfest event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 5th day
of August, 2024, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of:
6th Street from Ashworth Drive south to the south side of Walnut Street beginning Saturday,
October 5, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and ending Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 12:00 a.m.
Walnut Street from 5th Street west to the west side of 6th Street beginning Saturday, October 5,
2024, at 9:00 a.m. and ending Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.
