RESOLUTION 2024-343
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTRACT WITH ARTIST JOSHUA
WIENER FOR PUBLIC ART PROJECT "A WALK IN THE PARK"
IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WA UKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas
County; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee developed the Waukee Public Art and Culture Plan in
2023 and; AND,
WHEREAS, the Public Art Advisory Commission (PAAC) held a call to artists in
January 2024 and identified the location of the artwork as the pond and surrounding area
at the intersection of Tallgrass Lane and Grand Prairie Parkway; AND,
WHEREAS, the PAAC selected "A Walk in the Park" by Joshua Wiener with a budget
of $150,000 and description in Exhibit A of the contract; AND,
WHEREAS, Bravo Greater Des Moines awarded this project a public art grant worth
$50,000 and the remainder of the cost will be covered with budgeted city funds.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 5h day of August 2024, that the public art contract with Joshua Wiener is
approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is authorized to execute any and all
documents to effectuate the referenced contract.
