HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-08-19 I01J EV Charger Station Grant AuthorizationAGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: August 19, 2024 AGENDA ITEM:A Resolution Authorizing the City of Waukee, Iowa to Submit Sites to a Regional Joint Application for Funding from the Federal Highway Administration’s Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program FORMAT:Resolution SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: As part of the Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, the City of Waukee has an opportunity to join a regional application organized by the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Organization (MPO) related to electric vehicle charging stations. To be eligible, a city must install two Level-2 chargers per site and the associated electrical infrastructure, maintain them in that location for 5 years, and pay a 20% local match. The City would work with the MPO to comply with all of the reporting requirements. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: 20% local match. Approximately $12,000 City share for Triumph Park location and approximately $13,000 for Centennial Park. Centennial Park Estimate Sheet and Map PREPARED BY: Nick Osborne, Assistant City Administrator REVIEWED BY: PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION – NAME OF PUBLICATION: DATE OF PUBLICATION: I1J THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 2024- A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA TO SUBMIT SITES TO A REGIONAL JOINT APPLICATION FOR FUNDING FROM THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION’S CHARGING & FUELING INFRASTRUCTURE DISCRETIONARY GRANT PROGRAM (CFI) FOR SITES AT TRIUMPH PARK AND CENTENNIAL PARK TO THE DES MOINES AREA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) FOR INCLUSION AND FURTHER APPROVING THE APPLICATION WHICH OBLIGATES THE CITY OF WAUKEE TO MATCHING FUNDS OF AT LEAST 20% FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID PROJECT IF FUNDING IS GRANTED IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a full member of the Des Moines Area MPO; AND, WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration’s Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program provides funding to local jurisdictions for the construction of eligible projects; AND, WHEREAS, the Des Moines Area MPO will be submitting a joint regional application to the program based on the cumulation of each interested jurisdiction’s proposed sites. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 19th day of August, 2024, that: 1.The City Council supports and approves the attached proposed sites for the Federal Highway Administration’s Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program to be added to the regional application funding. 2.The City Council hereby commits the City of Waukee to matching funds as required by the Federal Highway Administration’s Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program funding (at least 20% match). 3.The City of Waukee hereby commits to the standards and reporting required of this funding program and will work with the Des Moines Area MPO to collect that data. 4.The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized to approve and execute related documents on behalf of the City of Waukee. ____________________________ Courtney Clarke, Mayor Attest: ___________________________________ Rebecca D.
