AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of receipt and file of the purchase of three (3)
Chevrolet Tahoe Police Vehicles from Karl Chevrolet, included in the
FY25 approved budget and via State contract pricing, in the amount of
$49,905.20 each, for a total of $149,715.60. [Waukee Police
Department].
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Waukee Police Department regularly rotates
police fleet vehicles based on use, age, and mileage to keep our fleet
operational, maintenance costs lower, and resale value higher. The FY25
approved budget includes funding for three (3) police fleet vehicles.
This cost is for the actual vehicle, additional costs for equipment
installation are also funded within the approved FY25 budget.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
Police vehicles are considered severe duty vehicles as they sometimes run 24/7 and they
experience much more rigorous use than a normal vehicle. As such, these vehicles must be
rotated on a scheduled basis as maintenance costs increase with mileage/age and resale value
significantly decreases with mileage/age. The Waukee Police Department currently rotates two
fleet vehicles per year out of the patrol rotation, and we currently budget to add an additional fleet
vehicle each year to balance our growing department. The vehicles rotated off patrol typically get
handed down to other assignments, which reduces mileage and use to the vehicles until they are
rotated out, such as School Resource Officer Vehicles. The FY25 approved budget includes
funding for three (3) police fleet vehicles. Two vehicles are being decommissioned this year and
will be resold, a 2016 Ford Explorer (180) with over 109,400 miles, and a 2020 Ford Explorer
(050) with over 91,200 miles; and two vehicles are being rotated to School Resource Officers, a
2020 Chevrolet Tahoe (866) with over 102,300 miles; and a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe (854) with
over 51,500 miles.

terms of the Dealership's financing documents with

authorized the Dealership to sell or otherwise dispose
of (and has not consented to the sale or other
disposition of) vehicles in Bulk Deferred Transactions
free of its security interest in the vehictes; (B) the
purchase of vehicles in Bulk Deferred Transactions
free of lhe security interest of Lender would violate the
terms of the Dealership's financing documents with
Lender and the rights of Lender would violate the
lerms of the Dealership's financing documents with
Lender and the rights of Lender in the vehicles; (4) the
Purchaser is not a "buyer in ordinary course of
business" as defined in the Uniform Commercial
Gode; and (5) accordingly, the sale of vehictes by the
Dealership to the Purchaser in Bulk Deferred
Transactions will nol extinguish Lender's security
inlerest in the vehicles. Lender's security interest in a
vehicle will automactically extinguish when payment is
made for that vehicle. This provision may only be
changed by written notice from Lender"
