closing of certain portions of public streets on Saturday, October 5, 2024,
and Sunday, October 6, 2024, for the Waukee Area Historical Society

FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On August 5, 2024, the Waukee City Council
approved temporary street closings to accommodate the annual
Wauktoberfest event in the Downtown Triangle District. The Waukee
Area Historical Society has since requested extended dates and times for
the temporary street closings to accommodate set-up.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2024-
APPROVING THE AMENDED TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF
PUBLIC STREETS ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2024, AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2024,
FOR THE WAUKEE AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY WAUKTOBERFEST EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND,
WHEREAS, on August 5, 2024, the Waukee City Council approved a resolution approving certain
temporary public street closings for the Waukee Area Historical Society Wauktoberfest event
scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024 (Resolution #2024-313); AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Area Historical Society requests amending the dates and times for the
approved street closures for their event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Code of Iowa §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily
closed by resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 3rd day
of September, 2024, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of:
6th Street from Ashworth Drive south to the south side of Walnut Street beginning Saturday,
October 5, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and ending Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 12:00 a.m.
Walnut Street from 5th Street west to the west side of 6th Street beginning Friday, October 4,
2024, at 12:00 p.m. and ending Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.
