AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a Motion to set a Public Hearing Date of
October 21, 2024, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to amend
Chapter 169, Zoning Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by rezoning
certain property from A-1 [Agricultural District] to R-4 [Row Dwelling
and Townhome Dwelling District] and C-1 [Community and Highway
Service Commercial District] (Commonwealth Place)
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Staff has received a request for rezoning of
approximately 20-acres of property. The property is generally located
south of Hickman Road and west of 10th Street.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the City Council
setting the public hearing date for October 21, 2024, to discuss this
matter further. Council action to set the public hearing date does not
indicate support for the project. Rather, it represents the Council’s
willingness to allow the public hearing process to continue.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
