AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving Agreement for
2025 Bridge Inspection Program with Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc.
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Calhoun-Burns and Associates, Inc. will be performing
emergency vehicle and All Systems Overweight Permit analysis on all City of Waukee bridges as
required by newly released regulations from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Iowa
Department of Transportation (IDOT). The City of Waukee has two bridge structures that meet the
FHWA and IDOT criteria. Both structures are multi-cell box culverts and both are located on Ute
Ave/R-22. This work will be performed at an hourly rate per the schedule of fees in the agreement.
The total cost for this work is unknown but is anticipated to be in the $1,000 to $5,000 range
depending on the final criteria from FHWA and IDOT.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: City agrees to pay the Consultant
pursuant to the Schedule of Fees set forth in Attachment C of the agreement.

RESOLUTION 2024-
APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES WITH
CALHOUN-BURNS & ASSOCIATES, INC. [2025 BRIDGE INSPECTION PROGRAM]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the City desires to retain the consultant services of Calhoun-Burns & Associates,
Inc. for the calendar year 2025 Bridge Inspection Program; AND,
WHEREAS, the scope of services includes performing emergency vehicle and All Systems
Overweight Permit analysis on all City of Waukee bridges as required by newly released Federal
Highway Administration and Iowa Department of Transportation regulations; AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the
Agreement for Professional Consulting Services between Calhoun-Burns & Associates, Inc. and
the City of Waukee, Iowa [2025 Bridge Inspection Program] is hereby approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 18th day of
November, 2024.
