Due to significant growth in recent years, the company has outgrown its current facilities and requires additional space to accommodate its expanding operations. As they prepare for further expansion, HMA has decided to temporarily relocate part of its office space and employees to an existing office space within the City of West Des Moines. This relocation will enable the company to continue its trajectory of success and meet its operational demands in the short term and allow for further thought and expansion at their Waukee headquarters in the long term. While it is difficult to see part of their operations move temporarily, we recognize and support HMA’s decision as a necessary step for their growth. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: HMA leadership explained that unfavorable market conditions prevented an immediate expansion at the current location and HQ in the City of Waukee at this time. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution in support of HMA’s relocation and expansion of a portion of its employees to West Des Moines. This action reinforces the City’s commitment to fostering economic growth, supporting local businesses, and maintaining positive relationships with key partners. ATTACHMENTS: I.
