SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: This project includes the furnishing of all labor,
equipment, and materials for the construction of University Avenue roadway improvements
between 11th Street and Waukee Public Works Building. The construction consists of
approximately 11,900 square yards of PCC pavement, 5,500 tons of HMA pavement, 1,800
linear feet of water main, 3,900 linear feet of storm sewer, 460 linear feet of sanitary sewer,
earthwork, subgrade preparation, box culvert, pedestrian underpasses, manholes, intakes,
traffic signal, sidewalk and shared use path paving, surface restoration, landscape plantings,
and other associated work.
This project is included in the approved FY 2025-2029 Capital Improvements Plan with a total
project budget of $17,000,000.00. This project has a November 21, 2025 interim completion date
for all grading, structure construction, utility installation, sidewalks, trails, driveways, and
roadway paving with the exception of final landscaping and site restoration and a May 31, 2026
completion date for all remaining work on the project.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
UNIVERSITY AVENUE AREA IMPROVEMENTS - PHASE 1
The City Council of Waukee, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on the proposed Plans, Specifications, Form
of Contract and Estimate of Costs for the construction of the above referenced public improvements at
5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025 at the Council Chamber in City Hall, 230 West Hickman Road, Waukee,
Iowa 50263. At said hearing, any interested person may appear and file objections thereto or to the cost
of the improvements.
This project includes the furnishing of all labor, equipment, and materials for the construction of the
UNIVERSITY AVENUE AREA IMPROVEMENTS - PHASE 1, generally described as follows:
Construction of University Avenue roadway improvements between 11th Street and Waukee Public
Works Building. The construction consists of approximately 11,900 square yards of PCC
pavement, 5,500 tons of HMA pavement, 1,800 linear feet of water main, 3,900 linear feet of storm
sewer, 460 linear feet of sanitary sewer, earthwork, subgrade preparation, box culvert, pedestrian
underpasses, manholes, intakes, traffic signal, sidewalk and shared use path paving, surface
restoration, landscape plantings, and other associated work.
In accordance with Iowa Code Sections 21.4(1)(b) and 21.8, this meeting of the Waukee City Council will
be conducted with two different options for public participation: 1) Members of the public wishing to attend
