Sidewalk Improvement Project]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Bids were received on December 18, 2024, with ten
general contractors submitting bids. Two of the bids were rejected due to the contractor using the
incorrect proposal form. The engineer’s estimate for the project was $200,000.00, The apparent
low bid was submitted by SKOL Trucking, L.L.C. of Johnston, Iowa for $129,662.77. This bid is
approximately 35% below the engineer’s estimate.
This project is included in the approved FY 2025-2029 Capital Improvements Plan and draft FY
2026-2030 CIP with a total project budget of $200,000.00 (combining funding from FY 25 and
26 with $100k budgeted in each fiscal year). This project has an August 15, 2025 interim
completion date for all sidewalks and a September 30, 2025 completion date for all remaining
work on the project.
V&K recommends awarding the project to SKOL Trucking, L.L.C. of Johnston, Iowa for
$129,662.77.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE 2025 ADA SIDEWALK
IMPROVEMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the 2025 ADA Sidewalk Improvements, described in the plans and
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on January 6, 2025, be and is hereby accepted,
the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows:
Contractor:SKOL Trucking, LLC,of Johnston, IA
Amount of bid:$129,662.77
Portion of project:All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 6th day of January, 2025.

2025 ADA SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
The City of Waukee received bids until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 for the
2025 ADA Sidewalk Improvements project. A total of ten bids were received. The following eight
bids were received in proper form:
