AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain portions of public streets on Saturday, July 19, 2025,
from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the RipRoar Waukee Youth Triathlon
event

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closings are to
accommodate a youth triathlon in and around Trailridge School.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2025-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS ON SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025, FROM 7:30 A.M. TO 12:00 P.M. FOR THE
RIPROAR WAUKEE YOUTH TRIATHLON EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, RipRoar Events will host a youth triathlon event in Waukee on Saturday, July 19,
2025, and requests the temporary closing of certain public streets beginning 7:30 a.m. and ending
12:00 p.m. on the date of the event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
18th day of February, 2025, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of NW Douglas
Parkway from NW Stratford Drive west to T Avenue/NW 20th Street, T Avenue/NW 20th Street
from NW Douglas Parkway south 650 feet, and NW Georgetown Drive from NW Douglas
Parkway north 950 feet between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19,
2025.
