AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain portions of public streets on Saturday, July 19, 2025,
from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for the Waukee Arts Festival “Fine Arts
Footrace”

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is to accommodate
a 5K run beginning and ending in Centennial Park.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2025-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS ON SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025, FROM 6:30 A.M. TO 9:00 A.M. FOR THE
WAUKEE ARTS FESTIVAL “FINE ARTS FOOTRACE”
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, organizers of the Waukee Arts Festival request the temporary closing of certain
public streets adjacent to Centennial Park on Saturday, July 19, 2025, for a “Fine Arts Footrace”
5K walk/run; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
3rd day of March, 2025, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of S. Warrior Lane from
528 feet south of Park Road to 260 feet south of University Avenue and the temporary closing of
University Avenue from S. Warrior Lane east to Ashworth Road/SE L.A. Grant Parkway
between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
