HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-06-02 I01F_02 Waukee Public Safety_Change Order 13\AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: June 2, 2025 AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 13 (Combined) for the Waukee Public Safety Building Project, increasing the contract in the amount of $96,176.11 FORMAT:Consent Agenda SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Substantial completion of the Waukee Public Safety Building is anticipated in the next 30 days. As we get to the end of the project, there are a number of final changes that have transpired. The majority of the proposed Change Order 13 relates to flooring changes including polishing the concrete floors within the majority of the building (hallways, open space, etc.) as well as the addition of flooring not previously contemplated within a training simulator space. Other components of this change order include the addition of a mailbox for the US Post Office, additional watering for the new sod on site, sidewalk replacement and modifications to gate hardware. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:The net result of this Change Order increases the contract price in the amount of $96,176.11. In total, there have been 13 change orders for $414,822.00 to date which is approximately 26% of the total contingency budget. For the Waukee Public Safety Project, Alpha Landscapes will be starting ground treatments shortly. Ryan Pigneri passed along the message that once sod goes into the non-irrigated portion of the project (shown on attached 2 image) they will be responsible for watering for 30 days. After that period, watering responsibility will be shifted to the City. An alternative option is to pay for extending water service for 1-month at $3,975. Nothing urgent at the moment, but the design team wanted to pass this along so you have time to consider how you wish to handle that transition.
