CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION
MEETING DATE: June 16, 2025
AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on an Ordinance to amend Chapter 169, Zoning
Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by amending Chapter 169.01,
Districts Established; and Chapter 169.02, Official Zoning Map, by
repealing said section and enacting in lieu thereof the readoption of the
Official Zoning Map
FORMAT: Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The current Official Zoning Map was adopted by the
City Council on April 3, 2023. Since then, a total of 17 rezoning
applications have been completed.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: The Planning and Zoning
Commission reviewed the proposed request on June 10, 2025, and
recommended approval:
Approval of Amendment to Chapter 169.02 (Official Zoning Map for City of Waukee, State
of Iowa)
Melissa DeBoer, Planning Coordinator, introduced the request for review and approval of the
updated Official Zoning Map for the City of Waukee. The current Official Zoning Map was
approved April 3, 2023, by the City Council. Since April 2023, there have been 17 rezoning
requests that have been reviewed and approved by the city. This map reflects all of those
changes.
Discussion as follows: (None)
Motion by Commissioner Bankole for approval of the updated Official Zoning Map for the City
of Waukee, seconded by Commissioner Streit. Ayes: Streit, Bankole, Beenken, and Tuel. Nays:
None. Motion carried.
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The proposed Official Zoning Map should be updated
on a regular basis in order to provide current and accurate data for the
public and those requesting information regarding zoning.
RECOMMENDATION: Hold the Public Hearing
