AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a Motion to set a Public Hearing Date of
September 2, 2025, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to
amend Chapter 169, Zoning Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by
rezoning certain property from C-1 [Community and Highway Service
Commercial District] and C-4 [Office Park Commercial District] to K-
RR [Kettlestone Retail Regional District] (Giles Property)
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Staff has received a request for rezoning of
approximately 51.68-acres of property. The property is generally located
north of SE Pleasant View Drive and east of Grand Prairie Parkway.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the City Council
setting the public hearing date for September 2, 2025, to discuss this
matter further. Council action to set the public hearing date does not
indicate support for the project. Rather, it represents the Council’s
willingness to allow the public hearing process to continue.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
