AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 167, ZONING REGULATIONS, SIGNS,
WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1. Chapter 167, Waukee Municipal Code, Zoning Regulations, Signs, is
hereby amending Section 167.13:
167.13 ASSOCIATION IDENTIFICATION SIGNS — COMMERCIAL AND
INDUSTRIAL
A commercial or industrial development may erect one association identification sign with
the name of the building, complex, center, or subdivision, provided there exists an owners'
association that provides for the maintenance and ownership of the sign and structures.
Such association shall not be disbanded or terminated without the City's consent. Such
signs shall be extensively landscaped with trees, plantings, and natural features. Such signs
may incorporate fountains, fences, or similar features. Association identification sign area
shall not exceed 60 square feet. Such signage may provide advertisement to tenants of the
development, provided the tenants are actively operating within the same subdivision or
development for which the association identification sign is intended for. Tenant
advertisement shall be limited to no more than 70% of the total maximum allowed square
footage. The minimum setback required of association identification signs shall bel5 feet.
The maximum height of the sign shall be 15 feet. The maximum width of the sign shall be
12 feet. Association identification signs shall be dominated with materials of permanency
and strength, such as brick or stone. Association identification signs shall be located within
an outlot owned by the association or within a sign easement granted by the property
owner.
Section 2. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance
shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity
of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid
or unconstitutional.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final
passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
