HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-08-04 Resolution 2025-301_Waukee Lions Club Flag Project Program AmendmentTHE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 2025-301 APPROVING AMENDMENT TO WAUKEE LIONS CLUB FLAG PROJECT PROGRAM IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal Organization; AND, WHEREAS, the Waukee Lions Club is a local non-profit whose mission is to serve the needs of the growing community; AND, WHEREAS, the City Council previously approved a resolution supporting a flag project program on September 16, 2024 (Resolution 2024-416), to allow for American Flags to be placed in front of single-family residential homes within the right-of-way between the public street and public sidewalk for five holidays per year including Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day; AND, WHEREAS, Waukee Lions Club has requested a revision to the project to allow for flag placement for the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) in lieu of the actual holiday; AND, WHEREAS, Waukee Lions Club shall be responsible for working with property owners for the installation of the flag and property owners shall agree that only the American Flag shall be flown at the designated location and only during the five holidays as previously defined; AND, WHEREAS, the sleeve utilized for installing the flag shall be located entirely below grade so as not to cause a tripping hazard and the Waukee Lions Club shall be responsible for making sure that Iowa One Call is contacted prior to installation of the flag sleeve to avoid conflicts with existing utilities. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that it supports the amendment to the Waukee Lions Club Flag Project related to Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and approves of the use of the public right of way as indicated.
