City Attorney, effective July 1, 2025

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Waukee Municipal Code §20.01 states that the city
attorney’s compensation shall be established by resolution.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$200.00 per hour as of
July 1, 2025.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2025-
ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR CITY ATTORNEY,
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized
Municipal Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, on June 5, 2006, Waukee City Council appointed the Brick Gentry Law Firm as
City Attorney for the City of Waukee beginning fiscal year 2006 (Resolution #06-108) and
has not increased its hourly rates since its initial appointment in 2005; AND,
WHEREAS, in the fall of 2024, the Brick Gentry Law Firm notified the City of its hourly
rate increase to $200.00 per hour effective July 1, 2025; AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council that the
$200.00 hourly rate of Brick Gentry Law Firm as City Attorney is hereby approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved this the 18th day of
August, 2025.
