date of public hearing on proposals for the purchase and removal of a
structure owned by the City of Waukee [825 Ashworth Drive]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City purchased the property located at 825
Ashworth Dr. for future street improvements and redevelopment
opportunities in the vicinity. City staff recommend the solicitation of
quotes for the removal of the house and attached garage.

NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR BIDS FOR MOVING STRUCTURE(S) AND NOTICE OF
PUBLIC HEARING
Sealed bids will be received by the City of Waukee City Clerk’s Office at 230 W. Hickman
Road, Waukee, Iowa 50263, until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, for the purchase
of the following structure(s) and removal of said structure(s) by the purchaser(s) from the current
location:
The structure at 825 Ashworth Road includes the following:
o A single-story family residence built in 1959 with approximately 960 square feet
above grade living area with attached 288 square feet garage.
At the above time and place, all bids received by the City will be opened and publicly read with
the results being reported to the Waukee City Council. The sale does not include the land. Each
structure will be sold separately. Bidders are not required to bid on all structures. For a complete

You are also hereby notified that a public hearing on the proposal will be held Monday,
November 3, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., at which time the City Council may take such action it deems
appropriate concerning the proposals submitted.
In accordance with Iowa Code Sections 21.4(1)(b) and 21.8, this meeting of the Waukee City
Council will be conducted with two different options for public participation: 1) Members of the
public wishing to attend in person may do so in the Council Chambers at Waukee City Hall. 2)
Members of the public wishing to participate electronically may do so via Zoom at the following

In-person meetings are subject to change under certain circumstances, including but not limited
to higher than average participation or changes in health guidelines. If the meeting shall be held
electronically only, notice shall be posted to the City website (Waukee.org) and City social
media. Questions regarding meeting format may also be directed to the City Clerk’s office at

During said hearing, any interested person may participate and will be given the opportunity to
express their views, comments, objections or arguments in favor at said hearing.
General Information:
The structures are being offered “as is” and without warranty of any kind. The successful
bidder will be responsible for complying with all applicable state and local building,
plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes and ensure the relocation site is properly
zoned. The successful bidder(s) will be responsible for any hazardous materials
mitigation that may be necessary.
The structure shall be relocated in its entirety. Proposals for less than the entire structure
will not be accepted by the City of Waukee.
The structure must be moved entirely from its current location at a date arranged by bid
winner and City of Waukee representatives. Failure to meet the scheduled deadline will
result in forfeiture of the purchase price and performance security and demolition of the
structure(s) by the City.
