AGENDA ITEM:Public Hearing on an Ordinance granting to MidAmerican Energy
Company a non-exclusive franchise to provide and furnish natural gas
and associated system facilities within the city limits of the City of
Waukee, Iowa
FORMAT:Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City has agreed to sell the Waukee Municipal
Gas Utility to MidAmerican Energy which is scheduled to close and transfer on October 22,
2025. The proposed franchise agreement for MidAmerican Energy Company provides the
parameters for providing gas service to the City of Waukee including requirements for service,
construction practices, communications and data sharing. The proposed agreement upon
approval will be effective for a period of 25 years.
