AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the use of Triangle
Park and the temporary closing of certain portions of public streets for
the 2026 Farmers Market (Partial Season)
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Due to street improvements planned in the
vicinity of Triangle Park in 2026, the Farmers Market is only able to use
the park and adjacent streets for the first half of their season.
The Downtown Business Association intends to find a new location for
the second half of the season but requests approval of the closure of a
portion of Walnut St. between 5th to 6th St. on Wednesdays from June 3
to July 29, 2026, as well as approval of the use of Triangle Park for the
first half of the Farmers Market season.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 2026-
APPROVING THE USE OF TRIANGLE PARK AND THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF
CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC STREETS FOR THE 2026 FARMERS MARKET
(PARTIAL SEASON)
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Downtown Business Association sponsors and administers the Waukee
Farmers Market, an annual event that takes place in the Triangle Park area within the Downtown
Triangle Business District; AND,
WHEREAS, due to public improvement projects scheduled for construction in and around the
Triangle Park area during 2026, the Waukee Downtown Business Association requests the use of
Triangle Park and specific temporary public street closures for the first part of the Waukee Farmers
Market Season (June 3-July 29); AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Downtown Business Association intends to request additional street closures
for the second part of the Waukee Farmers Market season once a location is selected; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 16th
day of March, 2026, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of Walnut Street from 6th Street to a
point 135 feet to the east between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. each Wednesday from June 3,
2026, to July 29, 2026, for the purpose of the Farmers Market;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council that it hereby approves the use
of Triangle Park during same said dates and times for the purpose of the Farmers Market.
