AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain portions of public streets on Saturday, June 13, 2026,
from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the RipRoar Waukee Youth Triathlon
event

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closings are to
accommodate a youth triathlon at and around Trailridge School.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2026-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC
STREETS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2026, FROM 9:30 A.M. TO 2:00 P.M. FOR THE
RIPROAR WAUKEE YOUTH TRIATHLON EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, RipRoar Events will host a youth triathlon event in Waukee on Saturday, June 13,
2026, and requests the temporary closing of certain public streets beginning 9:30 a.m. and ending
2:00 p.m. on the date of the event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
16th day of March, 2026, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of NW Douglas Parkway
from NW Stratford Drive west to T Avenue/NW 20th Street, and NW Georgetown Drive from
NW Douglas Parkway north to its terminus between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday, June 13, 2026.
