Agreement for Professional Consulting Services with OPN Architects
[Existing Fire/Police Building Renovation Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City previously entered into a contract with OPN
Architects for the design and preparation of construction and bidding documents for the renovation of
the building located at 1300 SE LA Grant Parkway. The Professional Consulting Services Agreement
contemplated costs associated with acquiring the services of several subconsultants that were to be
managed through OPN Architects.
The proposed amendment to the contract is to account for additional costs associated with
subconsultants that were not anticipated as a part of the original contract. Specifically, the amendment
includes an additional $6,000 for services related to the civil engineer and $5,800 for additional
analysis completed by the mechanical engineer on the project.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The proposed amendment is for
$11,800 bringing the revised contract amount for OPN to $755,800.

RESOLUTION 2026-
APPROVING FEE AMENDMENT 1 TO AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL
CONSULTING SERVICES WITH OPN ARCHITECTS, INC. [PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
RENOVATION – 1300 SE LA GRANT PARKWAY]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, in 2025, the City entered into a contract with OPN Architects, Inc. for full architectural
services, public bidding and administration for the Public Safety Building Renovation located at 1300
SE LA Grant Parkway; AND,
WHEREAS, the original contract with OPN Architects was $744,000; AND,
WHEREAS, during the design process, it was determined that additional services related to civil and
mechanical engineering were necessary with said amendment resulting in an increase of $11,800.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the
Amendment 1 to the Agreement for Professional Consulting Services with OPN Architects, Inc.
[Public Safety Building Renovation – 1300 SE LA Grant Parkway] is hereby approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 6th day of April, 2026.
