with ROW Energy, LLC [Waukee Public Library LED Lights]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On November 20, 2023, the City of Waukee contracted
with paleBLUEdot consulting company to help it develop a sustainability plan for internal city
services. It held city council workshops and collaborated with city staff to develop sustainability goals
and adopted the final plan in November 2024. One of the recommendations was to retrofit lighting to
LED to realize greater efficiency and cost savings. Staff met with MidAmerican Energy and is
recommending to replace lights at the library with LEDs. The City will receive $9,360 in incentives
and contribute $21,553. The City will recoup this contribution in 3-5 through electricity savings
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Total budget of $30,913- $9,360
in incentives and $21,553 in city funds, recouped in 3-5 years

RESOLUTION 2026-
APPROVING INSTALLATION OF LED LIGHTS AT LIBRARY FOR
SUSTAINABILITY
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas
County; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee adopted a sustainability plan for internal city services
in November 2023; AND,
WHEREAS, one of the recommendations was to retrofit existing lights to LED; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee qualifies for $9,360 in energy incentives and in the City
investment of $21,553 will be recouped by decreased energy cost in 3-5 years; AND,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 18th day of May 2026, that the contract for LED retrofitting at the Waukee
Library is approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute the contract.
