AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution correcting scrivener’s error and
amending Resolution No. 2026-157 to correct the amount of the award of
the construction contract and bond for the Existing Fire/Police Building
Renovation project to DDVI, Inc. for Bid Package #02 (General
Construction) and Jordison Construction for Bid Package #03 (Concrete)

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On April 20, 2026, Waukee City Council adopted
Resolution 2026-157 to approve construction contracts and bonds for Bid
Packages #02 to #013 for the Waukee Public Safety Building Renovation
Project. The awarded amounts for Bid Packages #2 and 3 should have
included Bid Alternates as part of the award but did not. The proposed
resolution corrects those errors.

RESOLUTION 2026-
RESOLUTION CORRECTING SCRIVENER’S ERROR AND
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2026-157 TO CORRECT THE
AMOUNT OF THE AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
AND BOND FOR THE EXISTING FIRE/POLICE BUILDING
RENOVATION PROJECT TO DDVI, INC. FOR BID PACKAGE
#02 – GENERAL CONSTRUCTION AND JORDISON
CONSTRUCTION FOR BID PACKAGE #03 -CONCRETE
WHEREAS, on April 20, 2026, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-157
approving construction contracts and bonds for Bid Packages #02 to #013 for Existing Fire/Police
Building Renovation project;
WHEREAS, in said resolution, the City Council approved the amount of the bid for the
construction contract to DDVI, Inc. for Bid Package #02 – General Construction in the amount of
$1,105,000.00;
WHEREAS, the amount that was to be awarded for Bid Package #02 was to include the
bidder’s bid for Alternate #1 and the amount of the bid for the construction contract should have
been $1,106,027.00, which constitutes a scrivener’s error that should be corrected;
WHEREAS, in addition, in said resolution, the City Council approved the amount of the
bid for the construction contract to Jordison Construction. for Bid Package #03 – Concrete in the
amount of $507,000.00;
WHEREAS, the amount that was to be awarded for Bid Package #03 was to include the
bidder’s bid for Alternate #1 and the amount of the bid for the construction contract should have
been $575,000.00, which constitutes a scrivener’s error that should be corrected.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the amount of the bid for the construction contract and bonds with regard
to Bid Package #02 – General Construction in Resolution No. 2026-124 is hereby corrected and
amended as follows:
Contractor: DDVI, Inc., of Indianola, IA
Amount of bid: $1,106.027.00
Bond surety: Employers Mutual Casualty Company
Date of bond: April 20, 2026
Portion of project: Bid Package #02 – General Construction
Section 2.That the amount of the bid for the construction contract and bonds with regard
to Bid Package #03 – Concrete in Resolution No. 2026-124 is hereby corrected and amended as
follows:
Contractor: Jordison Construction of Urbandale, IA
Amount of bid: $575,000.00
Bond surety: Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual)
Date of bond: April 20, 2026
Portion of project: Bid Package #03 – Concrete
Section 2. That those provisions of Resolution No. 2026-157 identified herein are hereby
repealed and replaced to the extent inconsistent with this Resolution.
Section 4. That all other provisions of Resolution No. 2026-157 adopted by this Council
on April 6, 2026, are hereby approved and all actions taken by the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby ratified and confirmed.
