\AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: May 18, 2026 AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 2 for the Waukee Public Safety Building Renovation Project increasing the contract in the amount of $1,300.00 FORMAT:Consent Agenda SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: For privacy reasons, a film was proposed to be installed on the glazed surfacing of the tower element in the front of the building located at 1300 SE LA Grant Parkway. The contractor has recommended a new glass type in lieu of the film to not void the glass warranty and to be more cost effective long term. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:The proposed changes resulted in an increase of the contract in the amount of $1,300.00. Scope modifications will include: Change Event #005: CW-1 Acid Etched Glass (DC): $1,300.00 BP#1 was bought out with no film on CW-1 elevations, then the CD set of drawings added film to block the view into the level 2 restroom. PDM has recommended a new glass type rather than a film to not void the glass warranty and to be more cost effective. The cost included in PDM's contract is for standard clear glass with no film so the scope of this change would be to modify the glass type to incorporate a Acid Etch is on surface #2, and the Low-# coating on surface 3 as shown on the physical sample submitted for approval. A formal ITC will be issued to incorporate this change into the construction documents. Design Contingency Item. The original Contract Sum was $155,170.00 Net change by previously authorized Change Orders $-9,231.20 The Contract Sum prior to this Change Order was $145,938.80 The Contract Sum will be increased by this Change Order in the amount of $1,300.00 The new Contract Sum including this Change Order will be $147,238.80 The Contract Time will be increased by (0) days. The Contractor’s Work shall be substantially complete on December 14, 2026. NOTE:This Change Order does not include adjustments to the Contract Sum or Guaranteed Maximum Price, or the Contract Time, that have been authorized by Construction Change Directive until the cost and time have been agreed upon by both the Owner and Contractor, in which case a Change Order is executed to supersede the Construction Change Directive.
