HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-06-16-Ordinance 2422_Purchasing, QuotationsORDINANCE NO.2422 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 111,SECTION 111.5,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,PURCHASING QUOTATIONS,TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCREASE IN THE DOLLAR AMOUNT FOR PURCHASE OF AN ITEM BEFORE QUOTATIONS MUST BE SECURED BY DELETING "ALL PURCHASE OVER ($500.00)"THEREOF AND INSERTING IN LIEU THEREOF THE WORDS,"ALL PURCHASES OVER $5,000.00";SO THAT THE FIRST SENTENCE READS:"ALL PURCHASES OVER $5,000.00 SHALL BE MADE AFTER SECURING QUOTATIONS" BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Waukee: Section 1.Chapter 111,Section 111.5,Waukee Municipal Code,Purchasing Quotations,is amended by deleting therefrom "All purchases over ($500.00)",and inserting in lieu thereof,"$All purchases over $5,000.00"so that Section 111.5 shall read as follows: All purchases over $5,000.00 shall be made after securing quotations. Quotations shall be sought from at least two (2),and if possible,three (3)vendors. If an item is a proprietary product this provision shall be waived,but every effort shall be made to avoid specifications with proprietary items exclusively.Once a quotation is taken on an item,unless in a fluid market,no new quotations need to be sought for re-orders unless more than one year has elapsed since the last quotations were received from the several possible vendors.Major supply contracts,such as for gasoline,fuel oil,etc.,shall be reviewed annually. Department heads shall beg uided b y t his regulation 0 n requisitions submitted with quotations Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinauce shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
