AN ORDlNANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 203,SECTION 203.2,WAUKEE
MUNICIPAL CODE,WATER RATES,TO PROVIDE FOR MINIMUM POSTlNG FEES FOR
NON-PAID UTILITIES TO BE SET BY RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL;AND TO
PROVIDE MINIMUM FEES FOR lNSTALLATION OF WATER METERS ON NEW
CONSTRUCTION BY ADDlNG TO SECTION 203.2:"MINIMUM POSTlNG FEES FOR NON-
PAID UTILITIES AND MINIMUM FEES FOR lNSTALLATION OF WATER METERS ON
NEW CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE SET BY RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL"
BE IT ORDAlNED by the Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1.Chapter 203,Section 203.2,Waukee Municipal Code,Water Rates,is amended
by adding thereto:"Minimum posting fees for non-paid utilities and minimum fees for installation
of water meters on new construction shall be set by resolution of the council,"so that Section 203.2
shall read as follows:
§203.2.Water Rates.Water shall be furnished at the following
monthly rates per meter within the city limits:
A minimum monthly bill of $7.95 shall be charged for zero to 1,000 gallons of
metered water usage per month.
Water usage in excess of the minimum (1,000 gallons)will be charged at a rate of
$5.40 per 1,000 gallons per month.
All users outside city limits of Waukee will be charged $12.00 for zero to 1,000
gallons of metered water usage per month,and $8.63 per 1,000 gallons per month in
excess of the first 1,000 gallons.
Water will not be furnished outside the limits of Waukee without consent of Des
Moines Water Works.
Minimum posting fees for non-paid utilities and minimum fees for installation of
water meters on new construction shall be set by resolution of the council.
Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provision or part of this ordinance shall be
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,
approval and publication as provided by law.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee,Iowa,this 8th day of September,2003,and
approved this 8th day of September,2003.
