HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-12-07-Ordinance 2173_Council, Terms of Office, Staggered ElectionsORDINANCE NO.2173 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 101.5,NUMBER AND TERM OF COUNCIL,WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,BY PROVIDING FOR FOUR (4)YEAR TERMS AND STAGGERED ELECTIONS,PURSUANT TO SPECIAL PROPOSITION CARRIED AT ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 27,1984. Section 1.Amendment.Section 101.5,Waukee Municipal Code is hereby deleted,and the following provision is inserted in lieu thereof: S101.5.Number and Term of Council.The council consists of five (5)council members elected at large for four (4)year terms;three of whom elected in 1985 and each 4 years thereafter;and two of whom elected in 1987 and each 4 years thereafter. Section 2.Repealer.All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3.Severability Clause.If any section,provlslon or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitu- tional,such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section,provision,or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. Section 4.Effective Date.This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage,approval and publication as provided by law. Passed by the Council this 7th day of December ,1993,and approved this 7th day of December,1993.
