RESOLUTION 02-16
APPROVING THE AMENDMENT OF RULES OF PROCEDURE FOR
CONDUCT OF CITY COUNCIL BUSINESS BY SETTING A TIME LIMIT OF
THREE HOURS FOR EACH COUNCIL MEETING
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council enacted a four hour limit on the length of council
meetings on July 11,1994;AND,
WHEREAS,the Waukee City Council enacted rules and procedures by which council
meetings were to be conducted on December 3,2001,which did not incorporate the four
hour limitation on the length of time of Council Meetings;AND,
WHEREAS,such rules and procedures are amendable by majority vote;AND,
WHEREAS,setting a time limit to the length of a council meeting regardless oftype of
meeting is both prudent and wise;AND,
WHEREAS,the time limit ofthree hours is not without precedent in the conduct of city
council meetings.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 21 st day of January 2002 that it hereby approves amending the Rules of
Procedures for Conduct of City Council Business by setting a time limit of three hours
for each council meeting.
