RESOLUTION 03-61
APPROVING A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR A VACANT POSITION
ON THE WAUKEE CITY COUNCIL AND SETTING 06-03-03
AS THE DATE FOR THE ELECTION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,IOWA
WHEREAS,council has proposed to fill the vacancy created by Wayne M.Johnson's
resignation from the position of councilman by having a special election;AND,
WHEREAS,per Iowa Code §372.13(4)(b )an election may be held mlY Tuesday,sixty
days after written notice of such election has been delivered to the county commissioner
of elections;AND,
WHEREAS,the first Tuesday after such notice shall have been delivered will be May
27,2003,the day after Memorial Day;AND,
WHEREAS,staff hesitates to schedule an election on the date after a holiday and thinks
the following Tuesday,06-03-03,would be a better date to schedule such an election.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in
session this 17th day of March 2003 that it hereby approves setting June 3,2003 as the
date of the Special Election to fill the vacancy on the Council.
